Planning a budget for your ideabox project can seem scary; after all this is not like buying a new book, TV or even a car. There’s a bit more to consider and plan. Fortunately, we have over 17 years successfully providing homes for our clients and can share some guidelines for your budget planning.

So, let’s break the budget down into two main areas assuming a typical project: ideabox cost estimates in green and your general contractor approximate cost estimates in blue. For purposes of this example, we are assuming a home costing $350,000.

ideabox costs in green:

  • House Build: 63% — covers the design, engineering and build cost for your ideabox. These are the prices listed on this website.

  • Transport: 3% — third party provider cost to securely truck your ideabox from the factory to your easily accessed site. Costs will increase if specialty equipment is required.

Your general contractor costs in blue:

  • Site Work: 30% — this includes permits, preparing your site and foundation and post delivery. We’ll provide you the scope of work and your contractor will estimate the costs. Your cost may vary depending on site development requirements.

  • Installation: 4% — third party provider cost to expertly move your ideabox from the truck and assemble on your foundation. Depending on your specific site and if extra equipment is required, the cost may run higher.

Estimated Payment Schedule for your project based on the cost of your ideabox:

  • Project Deposit: $5,000 | Architectural Design Phase for your specific site

  • Engineering Fee: 10% | Due at time of Purchase Agreement Sign-Off

  • Price Lock/Material Acquisition: 50% | Due 3 months prior to production

  • Start of Construction: 20% | Due one week prior to production

  • Final Payment: 20% | Due prior to shipping
